Whether you are a hospital inpatient, someone utilizing our facilities for the day during a test or procedure, or a visitor supporting a loved one, enjoying healthy, comforting food can make your experience at War Memorial Hospital better. That is why our food service team puts a lot of thought and love into delivering tasty food and good options.

Patient In-Room Dining

Every patient receives a one-on-one visit from a food service technician at the beginning of their stay. That technician is trained to provide guidance and options depending on the medical nutrition plan you physician has ordered for you.

Between breakfast and lunch, the technician will visit each room and take orders for the lunch and dinner meals. Lunch is delivered to patient rooms around 12:30pm for lunch and around 5:30pm for dinner. After lunch trays have been collected, the technician will visit again to collect the breakfast order for the next day.

Breakfast is served to patient rooms around 8:30am each day. Sometimes patients are away from their room for testing, get hungry between meals, or are admitted at an unusual time of day. Trays can be delivered between meals as needed and should be arranged through the nursing staff.

Cafeteria Welcomes Visitors

Visitors are invited to enjoy a bite to eat in the hospital cafeteria, where they will find several options. Our rotating menu options offer something for everyone, and a “well-being” feature can always be found, which is 550 calories, less than 15 grams of fat, and 2-3 grams of fiber. We also offer a salad bar and two soups to choose from daily. For those looking for something quick, we also offer a number of “grab and go” options.

Our Cafeteria is open the following hours:

Breakfast – 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Lunch – 10:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

During all other times, visitors can enjoy “grab and go” sandwiches and other convenience items.

(Once concerns about COVID-19 have passed, we will reinstitute our evening soup/salad bar.)

Other options

There are various vending machines throughout the hospital, with our main vending areas located near the cafeteria and the Long Term Care entrance
